That is weird...like the same exact concept we discussed here just a month or so ago.

    Bill Gates reads our boards???

The iClock deserves to die a quick and painful death. Who would pay a couple hundred dollars for an alarm clock the can wake you up earlier if it happens to be foggy outside. This is a very pointless device. What would the comercial be?

This is not a bad idea and I think you will be surprised in the near future.

first, i want to point out... AGAIN (because i am an intolerable snot when i know i am right)... that the first thread on this topic was MINE. pity AI's archives can't hold up in a stiff breeze, or else i'd post a link. you all yawned, went "whatever," and it faded away, until it was brought back to life several weeks ago. (like i said, i don't get to be an annoying jerk often, so i am enjoying it while i can )

secondly, jante, you're right - several hundred dollars WOULD be too expensive for a device like the iClock, especially since bluetooth's claim to fame is that it is a.) tiny and b.) cheap. it would totally defeat the purpose.

but the concept is still damn sound.

    anyway...

    Hi

Everyday my alarm rings at 6AM, i always snooze til 6:15..

Now, if this microsoft's newest thing would wake me up @ 5:30 because there is a fog, and asked me where do i want to go today, i would throw this $^%$#(* piece of ^%$& out the window!

I was thinking about iClock again today. I posted on the previous thread on this topic too.

I think it would be a brilliant product, properly executed. As usual MS will screw this up. I HATE that Word always thinks it is smarter than I am. I simply will not tolerate such baloney from a clock.

But, the original thread submitted the idea of iTunes/Rendevous synch. I would LOVE this. I'd probably buy three in a heartbeat (one for each daughter) and one for me and the wife. I'd throw out the TWO CD boom boxes being used in the bed rooms (one for each daughter) AND the two alarm clocks. And the sometimes working Sony CD player alarm clock.

Anyone could select a playlist to sleep to, to wake to, etc. Perhaps select an iTunes radio station too? Woo hoo!

Keep it small, simple, elegant, affordable.

Integration w/iCal might be cool too, but would need to be carefully thought out.

Screw the clock! I don't want to get up any earlier. I would be really impressed if a Bluetooth equiped product could get rid of the fog, instead of just telling you about it.

Or better yet, get rid of TIME. Or make more of it. Or something like that. I dunno.

    Better yet shift the time.

I have another rovolutionary device no one invented yet.

Think of microwave, but in reverse... Rapid cooling

And of course it should sync to ical over airport (for no particular reason)

Dumb product. People don't need seperate gadgets for different functions. When someone goes traveling on business or vacation, does microsoft expect you to take your MP3 player, PDA, iClock, as well as your tablet pc/laptop. ?uck you microsoft. How about building all the fuctionality of your "iClock" into your PDA OS (CE i believe??) instead of trying to drain the pockets of tech heads even further.

Nothing would prevent a PDA of having these capabilites if they can put it into a dumb product like the iClock.

You know what I'd really like? I'd like for Apple to get off their fat asses and make OSX startup automatically. While they're at it they could add this functionality to iTunes. Especially considering SoundJam used to do this, and as we all know iTunes was SoundJam in it's former life.

Yes, a bit harsh. But I used to use this feature quite a bit.

The point is it could keep you in bed if there was no reason for you to get up, i.e something had been cancelled or the world was about to end or something

As mentioned in the 'iClock' thread, you have alarms on lots of stuff, i.e your cell phone, your watch, your goddamn Nintendo Game & Watch

but how many of them do you ever actually use?

People will only ever really trust a device dedicated to one thing (being an alarm) to get them up in the morning which is why they exist, it's always by the bed and you just have to flick a switch to know it's set.

The device that does everything is a geek dream, it generally makes for bad design, devices that talk to each other makes so much more sense, hence Bluetooth/iSync etc.

I used to use this a lot also but now that I'm running OS X i just leave the machine on 24/7. I could set my Mac up to wake me as an alarm in the morning but I don't simply because it's too much hassle, or I simply don't trust it enough.

And I live by the snooze button, where's the snooze on my Mac at 5a.m when I can't see/think/move?
