Well, I'd just like to point out here that DDR is completely independant of the CPU. you can take a P4 and stick it in different motherboards which support SDRAM, RDRAM, or DDR. The CPU doesn't care.
I presume Apple designes their own motherboards, so DDR support has nothing to do with Motorola, or which chip type is used.

I too will predict G5s at MWSF. However, I doubt we'll see anything above 1.2/1.4 GHz. The iMac will finally get a case change and a flat-panel screen with a G4 (and Superdrive?) available on the high-end. (Superdrives should be standard on the PowerMacs by Jan.) Finally, I also predict the announcement of an additional iDevice, though I know not what it could be. I still dream my foolish dreams for a settop box though.
You think the Superdrive will be standard on the low-end? Hmm......somehow I'm not sure but that's good news if it is because I plan on getting a low-end G5.
I like the idea off mosr of a July speed bump for the G5's, I'd guess to 2ghz and a case redesign for the quicksilver enclosure.
i dont know enough about the componets of the motherboard(s) to make a guess, but thats the mhz im guessing on.

The G5 is on the way for sure, but when, let's hope it will soon appear. The 7460 basically have the same design than the 7450 but is based upon 0,13 micron process.
Motorola and AMD work together on the design process. The new athlon is based upon 0,13 micron, why not Motorola ?
The problem of the G5 is that he is based upon a entirely new design far more complicated than the 7450 : is one year sufficiant to make such an improvement ?(remember that the G4 has been stuck at 500 mhz for two years ...) : thats the question.
So dispite other threads i will make only one prediction or too : the GHZ wall will be broken by apple in junuary and the next I mac will have G4 chip. The next Power mac will have an improved RAM technology.
The G3 will be still use for a moment in the I book line.
From MWSF this year till today the fastest G4 speed has increased by 133MHz (from 733 to 867), and you are hoping for a G5 at 1.6 GHz all of a sudden? give me a break!
Really, I do trust in Steve and Apple and I really wish for a 1.6 GHz mac in a few months... but I feel it is not going to happen.
Well percentage wise the jummp from 500 MHz to 733 MHz top speed was 46.6%. this was the case between MWNY 2000 and MWSF 2001. So if we saw a percentage wise increase like that it would 867 to 1271.022, so if we get a big boost 1.2 and 1.4 GHz isnt too unlikely. Plus, Jobs did say we'd begin to close the MHz gap.....when was he planning on it?
Why hasn't anyone mention apple releasing a digital camera?
Apple was a pioner in the digital camera but they went the way of the newton.
Couldn't Apple come on stage and release iPhoto and a digital camera (masive storgae and masive pixels).
Think of something between 2 and 3 megapixles and a 1 gig of storage (a flavor of the hard disk in the iPod) or perhaps a fire wire connection that allows you to download photos on to your iPod on the go. Then you would need as much storage on the actual camera. That would drive sales of both devises and turn the digital hub into a digital web.
My personal opion is that Apple would release a digital camera before it thought about the digital camcorder market.

Why would there only be 128MB on the 2 top end machines?... those already have 256MB.
Also, unless it was to get rid of remaining stock, I dobut Apple would make 2 different iMac forms. It's either LCD or CRT, not both.
