way beyond the rumour sites? again?

today i had a look at apples website and suddenly wondered if they'd make another "Way beyond the rumour-sites"-countdown before MWSF 2003? i think this countdown gives them more attention from "normal" apple-customers (beside us) and apple did a good job to get these customers in front of their web-browser and watching the live-keynote. so i think it'd make sense if they'd do this again... the new product, which blows us away in january 2002 was the new iMac which was really cool (my opinion) .... this year (with steve wozniak speaking and probably showing a new digital device - who knows) ... what will be the big product anouncement? we all knew that the iMac is a must to update (faster G4 etc) but the iMac was last year... i remember the first iMac introduction and a year later the PowerMac G4 into ... so my bets are on an all new Powermac-Announcement! whose bets are with me? <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Man are you gona be disapointed when when Woz shows up just to hock his new Danger Sidekick, and nothing more. I think Apple just might show the PM's we're all waiting for, but it has nothing to do with Woz.

Seems like that backfired on them last time. You could see the powder burns on Job's face. The latest powerbook is the most exciting thing in a while and they released that as a between expo update.

So I would think Apple's gun shy of the hype engine.

Satchmo, that's a moot point, but the headline made me laugh, so I am not upset about it.

I think we will see some dissapointing speed bumps to the iMacs and no increase in bus speed. I don't think they will increase the speed of the iMac beyond 1ghz just yet.

I am not sure about the MPC7457 just yet, PM's have only just been bumped. Wouldn't using the 7457 mean that the motherboard would need to be modified again?

as far as i know the 7457 is just a 0.13µ version of the 7455 so no new motherboard would be needed. also the new faster bus (200Mhz) won't be a problem i think. the current machines run with both 133 and 166 mhz so why not 200mhz on the same motherboard?

(although i hope for an all-new board along with a non-745x cpu)

Apple was hyping way too much on MWSF 02

I don't think they will ever do it again.
