When do you think Apple will revise the iBook?

Late summer/fall or January?

Will it be redesigned, or simply updated?

It'll be updated probaly within two months of the next powerbook update.

When will that be? Who knows!

Would it wise for someone to purchase one right now: or would it be better to wait until the next version?

The next iBook revision would likely get a GPU that can support Core Image... probably inheriting the low end PB GPU from this generation... the GeForce Go5200. (All iBooks have traditionally inherited the previous PB GPU at major revs).

If you can wait until potentially January, perhaps November, it might be worthwhile.

If you need it now, buy it now.

You can always eBay the old one or trade up. Mac laptops retain value well.

Do you think there will be a case revision to match the updated iMac?

expect an updated ibook between october and november 2004.

apple is very punctual with their ibook updates.

    so wait if you can.

    if you can't wait:

buy now, they're good value for money.

They could be a bit late this time though, I think.

It all depends on when they can get a G5 / new freescale G4 or whatever the heck it will be into a PB.

If they run into problems, the ibook also has nowhere to go as it will completely run into the PB.

Good point - I heard not to expect a Powerbook G5 until late next year.

i also had thought of that already

    and i didn't like it.

i hope freescale has something to offer,

because i'm not so optimistic about a G5 powerbook soon anymore.

we'll see what the imac will do in september.

if it's sports a G5 in a relative small case, a powerbook G5 in the near future is an option.

otherwise, if these 2 fail, it will be a long wait for a powerbook / next rev ibook.

anyway, it won't hurt to buy an ibook now.

instead of in about 4-5 months or in a bad case scenario: deep inside 2005
