I'm a bit apprehensive about installing Little Snitch from reading the reviews on Version Tracker. It seems like an unnecessary piece of software as well. Doesn't everyone want to know if their software is up-to-date? If that's all applications are "phoning home" for, who cares? Doesn't the built-in Apple Firewall do the job satisfactory?

I dont like Applications 'phoning home' without my permission. How do you know if the software you have on your machine is not spyware? There are tons of those mal-ware on Windows and ZoneAlarm is worth it. It is good to have that facility on the Mac as well.

Is there anything like ZoneAlarm for windows? I love being able to simply say, when I open a program, whether or not I want to allow access to it.
that would be little snitch.
