IT'S DONE!!!!!!!

Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing!

It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with

Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally

GOLD. Thanks to everyone for their patience (yeah right! =) and for everyone at id, Activision and our

numerous partners for helping us create what I believe is absolutely the best game we have ever made.

I envy you lucky bastards that are waiting on your Powermac G5 2.5Ghz with Nvidia 6800. Have fun you wretches and pray you don't have a girlfriend now because she's unlikely to want to stay with a "Doom'ed addict" LOL

Ouch! well id still has not one word of the Mac version, come on id! Mac users have supported your games for years. yeah i have a 2.5 coming but with only a 9600xt. I dont think it will have a problem if and when it comes to Mac. Also i hope my wife will be a little forgiving anyways we need to petitition id on why they dont have 1 word of a Mac version. this just pisses me off.

John Carmack has stated they are hoping for a simultaneous release. I just think this guy might be PC centric.

One of the benefits of OpenGL is that it handles the heavy lifting and then you just right to the platform specific code. I hope nothing has changed and a Mac version is also coming post haste.

On the Mac release of D3 from Todd Hollenshead...

"Mac and Linux: Unfortunately I don't have dates for either of these. However, Linux binaries will be

available very soon after the PC game hits store shelves. There are no plans for boxed Linux games.

More remains to be done for the OSX version of DOOM 3 and that will take some time. We won't release

the OSX version until it's just as polished as the PC version. The date for OSX DOOM 3 remains "when it's

done", but I can confirm that it's definitely coming."

As I feared it doesn't sound good if you were hoping for anything close to a simultaneous release... but at least we know it *is* coming.

    Cheers,

    C.

Thanks, did Todd just post this or was this said awhile ago? This will be the game of the year and by which all things are judge. This game is going make a lot of G4 users cry lets just hope we arent looking at a 2005 release for Mac. That would suck.

    Read it.

    And weep.

Or not. I really have confidence that this will be coming to the Mac in the near future, i.e., soon enough to screw up my beginning of high school...

I'm not too worried with the Mac delays. A lot of PC users won't be able to experience Doom 3 in it's full glory for at least a year. Doom 3 will really push the fastest PCs with the fastest vid cards to their limits. So it's not like we're going to be all that late.

I'm just gonna wait to see what Apple releases in a year...that should be good enough to play Doom 3.

I can only hope iD is doing a good job on the Mac optimization. Graeme Devine left iD a while ago so who knows if we'll have good SMP and/or Altivec support in Doom 3.

I think that Nvidia's SLI multi-GPU technology is going to be in Macs pretty soon, and nothing will run Doom3 like two 6800s.

As in, laughing at my vaporware wishings, or laughing in the delight of imagining Doom3, on high settings, running at 50 fps?
