Oh, it was you! Aspen Grove had just sold out, so I had to drive up to Cherry Creek.

Nope. The Grove in Los Angeles.

I'm looking for widescreen desktops too, fugimax.

Plus, I'm waiting for the 2.5Ghz G5's to show up in the store.

Don't hate me for using my PC until then:

It'll run at native resolution; 1920x1200. Your Ti 800 has DVI out, right? If I remember right, the first TiBook 667 was the last to have VGA out.

No, it supports the native resolution of the Cinema Display - 1920x1200, but I'm not sure that the 15"/800 can drive it. I know that my 12" Rev. A PB won't drive my Cinema Display.

The newer 12" and 15" PB's work fine with it though.

No dead pixels here either and I think Apple's policy is to replace the display if you have 6 or more stuck/dead pixels - not just one or two.

I've pretty much decided on bumping up the video card from the stock 9600XT.

I'd like at least the 9800XT if not the 6800 Ultra.

Unreal Tournament 2004 plays great with my PC and 9800 Pro.

Quote from the Apple website under system requirements for 20" and 23" Cinema displays...

    One of the following:

Power Mac G4 or G5 with NVIDIA graphics card or ATI Radeon 7500 or better graphics card and Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later

PowerBook G4 with DVI port and Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later

Windows-based PCs with graphics card that supports DVI ports with full single link digital bandwidth and VESA DDC standard for plug and play setup.

Is it possible to connect these displays to a Powerbook with only a VGA output? (using an adaptor)

I'm pretty sure it has to be DVI (not thru an adapter).

You can get a VGA to DVI adaptor but it probably isn't worth it.

Picked up a 23" at the Apple Store and lucked out with no dead or stuck pixels. The manager wouldn't let me check before I bought, though -- like I said, got lucky.

There may be an advantage of buying your display from CompUSA in regards to not worrying about the number of dead pixels. I've been told that they will accept an exchange for any reason - with one being a dead pixel. I've had two stores tell me the same information. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
