I like the breakout box idea too. How much would such a box cost? The idea is to have two or more in different rooms like your office room, living room and to be able to unplug one only cable and carry the iMac to the living-room where you can confortably look at your photo slide show with friends or youe family.

Put a costless battery that would stay a few minutes, the time to carry your iMac to your living-room. No need to reboot. The charging would stop when the battery is full so that it extends its battery life. Ok that's a new extra cost and the boot time is very low.

    The Dane

Nothing WAS wrong with it when they had Danes in charge of it (Jacob Jensen).

Since the murricans took charge it has gone pear-shaped both at B&O and also at BMW (where no Dane was ever in charge AFAIK). YMMV

I think I solved the G5 heat issues.

    It IS headless, and cube-like...

All of your ideas are sweet, especially "rolo's". Remember apple is redesigning because they need more space and venilation than the iMAC 2.

The Cube is a thing of beauty, but it has passed away into Apple lore as the one that was too good for the world.

You guys are making me miss my Cube, which I sold to get my current powerbook. I love the powerbook but will always have an unexplainable adoration for that Cube. The look on peoples faces when they saw it was always priceless no matter if they had seen it before or not. ***leans back in imaginary Herman Miller chair and drifts off to memories of running late versions of OS9 (Converses with the Cube in cloudy dream sequence)***

I have some pictures of the 'guts' of a 800 Flatpanel. I took mine completely apart for upgrading&housecleaning.

I can email them to you; i'm not allowed any attachment on this forum.(for some dumb reason thou' i dunno why)

    I miss the Cube.

It's the one Apple desktop with potential.

    Badly impleminted.

    Badly marketed.

    Badly priced.

    Badly specced.

Everything wrong with old Apple and parts of 'new' Apple if the iMac 2 is anything to go by.

Thank god they canned it (iMac2). (Another white elephant.)

I still don't see that much wrong with an improved cube.

9x9 inch from front. Longer form ie Cuboid/shuttle. Hey, even wintel land is making these kinda things with the latest Intel/amd/ati fire breathers in them...

Alu case. Stick an Apple badge on it.

    Perfect.

Hohum. Apple never repeats itself. So I guess the cube is regretfully out.

I'm curious as to what the new iMac 3G will look like...

I just like the idea of a deeper alu display with components behind the monitor...and maybe a sep' powerbrick?

I liked the old iMac look. Ya it did look weird having a monitor bigger than the base though. The cube was cool it should replace the eMac and become a lower end apple.

In the longstandng tradition of one of a kind designs for the imac, I say that this peice of art on the Chicago lakefront looks like a great concept... just make it 1000x smaller...
