I have an old 'snow' colored G3 iMac. Does anyone know how to force eject a disc out of the drive upon start up? This computer has no operating system on it yet, and refuses to properly boot off the disc that is stuck in it. Holding down the eject button doesn't do a damn thing. Anybody able to help me out here?

get a paper clip and look for a lil hole to the right of the tray. push it in and good luck may the force be with you.

Awesome! I didn't realize that this old sucker had that there. It's been a looooong time since I ever used one of these things, and wasn't all to framiliar with them even at that point. Out with the old, in with the new. Thanks again!

You should also be able to hold down the mouse button as the computer boots.

Now if you want to get Crazy and feel on the wild side, you can always do it in open firmware.

here how you do it :

    1. Boot Imac, after scheme, press and hold down ( option , apple , O , F ) keys. Yes hold them down til you see a white screen with text.

    2. you will then type; "eject cd" . with out the qoutes and press enter.

    3. wait a couple of secs and cd will be ejected.

4., once your CD is ejected and is in safe keeping, you can continue to boot by typing "mac-boot" and press enter.

Or you can shut the unit down by pressing "shut-down" and press enter.

There, now was that hard, Naw,, it was easy.

    Keep it real,
