Yeah, I was truly struck by the consistent use of punctuation, too. Go to some other forums, and you begin to lose your sanity.

(That link is probably pretty painful to an English teacher)

seems like they are under pretty strict security since 9/11 although the bases themselves arent that hard to bring visitors onto ( i easily got a permit for a weekend). But active subs, I doubt they'd let visitors on these days. \

To be honest with you, I don't eat as many vegetables as I should. Makes it kind of hard to take pictures of them if you don't have any around. But my dream is to some day take photos of vegetables.

I'm an assistant professor of English (no tenure yet...I was just hired). I'm a specialist in 18th and 19th century British literature. More specifically, I'm a specialist in mid-Victorian women's poetry. Even more specifically, I'm a specialist in poetry written by women who were involved in efforts to get prostitutes off the streets. I also do some research in the history of the English novel. At the moment, I'm the director of the freshman composition program here (composition is the other half of my professional life).

    Cheers

    Scott

    PS

Carol: I'm in the middle of a book like yours--but for teachers at the college/university level.

Awww, Carol you are a sweetie. If I wasn't already betrothed to groverat and cheating on him with Hassan while making manlove on the side with Powerdoc in order to get botox enhancements for my pinky toe, I would offer to marry you.

You are obviously a *busy* guy, Colander. But not too busy to take the most stunning and artistic shots. Even the way they are laid out on the page is a visual feast, with the intense contrasts in color, texture, subject matter.

The composition of each shot is a perfection of balance, light, color intensity, texture. But then, together on the page they come alive again, in a new and more appealing way. I could only say "Ahhhhhhh..." as I savored the over-all effect.

You are a natural talent. I'm so impressed. I know hardly anything about photography, but I know what I love when I see it.

What an interesting combination: the aggression and physicality of rough hiking, present simultaneously with the most finely-tuned, sensitive, artistic apprehension of the natural world around you. Wow.

Btw, are you using a tripod for those shots?

Oh, and I *was* married some years back. Not too interested in trying it again.

Sounds great. At the very least I could probably point you toward some good resources in exchange for some info on your experiences.

Associate Professor of Law, University of Michigan

(Previously AUSA Eastern District of Michigan)

    Teach Constitution

    Ethics and Theory

    and Criminal Procedure to 1L's

Currently running for Circuit Court Judge. And, no that doesn't make me a politician - Judicial races in Michigan anyway are non-partisan.

I received enough votes yesterday to be on the November ballot so that's something I guess...

Congrats! Will you have to give up your teaching position if you win?

Not entirely. I'll have to give up the professorship, however Judges often lecture as adjunct facilty - so I'll still have an opportunity to teach.

I will be a first year university student at U of Toronto come september. I'm enrolled in science, and unsure of exactly what I want to do. There are so many options out there for me, and so many careers I would love to have. I'm only 17 though, so I have time to think about what I want to do. For now I'm going to try going for a specialist in mathematics and computer science, and then a minor in Japanese studies. I want to be a mathematics teacher, I love math.

Is it weird for a 17 year old to love math so much, that they find the answers to mind boggling questions in their sleep?! Sometimes in my dreams there's this voice telling me how to solve problems... it's strange.

I was also considering going into law, but I have YEARS to decide if that's the route I want to take.

To bring in cash, I maintain my sister's website and online store (she sells jewellery). I also sell with her when she goes to festivals, markets etc.

Soon I will start volunteering at an animal shelter since I love animals.
