Eye Toy

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
I got an Eye toy camera for my PS2 last weekend and I was wondering if it would work on a Mac? I plugged it into a spare USB and opened iChat but was unable to get a picture...



Does anyone know of a work around - as this camera is really cheap - yet the picture quality is great...

    ichat only supports firewire cameras. but there is a hack to let it work with usb ones. do a search on version tracker for it...

    Two things, firstly there is a patch "out there" that lets iChat use USB cameras and it works very well, secondly the eyetoy camera has on-board compression/processing - that's why you can have a 640x480 15fps video over usb 1.1 - the camera does alot of the work. So I doubt it could ever work with QT, certainly not without very specific drivers.

    Has anyone gotten this to work with iChat? I'm thinking about getting an eye toy and it would be nice if I was able to also use it with iChat.
