Anyone have any recommedations for a good USB interface device to hook up to my 12" Powerbook G4? I'm willing to spend money, but don't want to go too high. I need something that will put out a decent volume as the line in of the PB just doesn't get my guitar sound loud enough sometimes. Not to mention it would be better with all the external controls and what not.

Also, please let me know of any Garageband sites that you all might know of where you can listen to other muscians music or upload your own.

Thanks to all.

I use this and recommend it. You may also want to think about MIDI though, if you have (or think you might want to get) a keyboard. There are a few that have both the MIDI and the pre-amp features in one box, which might be useful (I already had a MIDI thingy). There're some cheaper USB pre-amps too, but that's a good one.

I just bought a Tascam US-122. It's cheap, has better guitar impedance that the mAudio Mobile Preamp, and it also has MIDI in/out if you choose to get into that. Check it out at Tascam's site. You should be able to pick it up at a music shop in your city.

They are also giving a pair of headphones and a microphone away with the US-122 until Dec 31st.
