"Error 678: The remote computer did not respond"

Of course that it works fine on mac os x 10.3.5.

Anyone got it working ?

Why don't you just let VPC share your Mac connection?

I did search "share internet" in vpc7 help.

I followed the instructions within "Shared Networking", but it still doesn't work.

    Any idea ?

You are overlooking the obvious. From the Virtual PC List, click Settings.... In the new dialog box, scan down to Networking and click. Check Enable networking. Select Shared Networking.

Yeah, i know. I did that. "Share Networking" is the default option when you install vpc7.

    But it STILL doesn't work..

    I really don't know what's going on.

My reading of your screenshot indicates that VPC is talking to something. Did you also configure your connection within Windows XP? If you did, then that may be the problem because you should just leave it alone and allow the Mac host to handle your connection. My connection works fine, but I am using DHCP rather than PPPoE.

i just installed the latest version and it just worked right out the box with no tweaking on my part. by default it should share your networking settings. you may just want to trash what you have and do a reinstall.

I would really enjoy having internet working on windows...

i'm getting angry with this. I already punched the door, and now i must type only with my right hand...

Hey, knock off that masturbation! It's not even 10:00!

In XP when you use the Network Setup Wizard, do you choose the "my computer connects to the network over a LAN" option? ...or maybe it should be "my computer connects directly to the Internet" option? I really don't know, but it seems the solution must lie somewhere around here... Hell, try'em both and see if one works (and aim your dick away from the computer ).

How about running the Network Setup Wizard and go with the "My computer connects to another computer with Internet access" choice?

I tried that already. It got nothing.

I have found other people that are having the same problem as me. Read this:

"I know many of you that connect using ADSL using PPPoE have

encountered the same problem as me. Internet Explorer in VPC simply

does not connect to any web sites. Even if you are using shared

networking, have made sure that DHCP is on, and have put the DNS

server that you found using the terminal into the networks preferences

in VPC. Other people might be able to connect to many web sites,

except two major ones - www.microsoft.com, and www.apple.com.......the

solution to this in the past has been to enable the scripts menu in

VPC, go to "Set Networking Type" and change it from the default shared

packets to shared sockets. This is the solution that helped me in VPC

6, but unfortunately after having upgraded to VPC 7, Microsoft for

some reason has decided to get rid of this script. Thanks to them, my

purchase has just been majorly hindered. I don't even care if they

include it in the first update, how long will that take? Knowing

Microsuck, probably anywhere from 6 months to two years. I'm tired of

    this.

I even booted into a seperate partition of OS X on my hard drive,

installing VPC 6 and getting the script, adding it to the VPC 7

scripts folder. Unfortunately it doesn't do a thing but keep switching

it to shared packets. Anyone know how to fix this problem in VPC 7

since it was obviously not needed to have this script included anymore

    in microsoft's eyes?"

    Complete Thread Here

They don't seem to have found a solution, yet..
