Hi everybody, I'm new and would like some help. I'm looking for some gif files or something similar. I want to find out what the newest technologies there are for animated gifs small ones with very high resolution ,fluid like movement and 3d quality. Something with a quality similar to the quartx graphics used in the mac os not the cheesy stuff on the web. what is the most stunning gif you have ever seen in your life?

Does this even exist? I've been looking for some info on this but I keep going in circles, one clip art site to another, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I don't know anything about alternative formats for gifs so I could use a little education if your willing.

err, gif is limited to 256 colors

do a search on versiontracker.com for "gif" and there should be some specialised tools.

Photoshop and Photoshop Elements have very good tools for making animated gifs.

You may want to look at learning flash instead. Gif is so... so 90s

flash is vector based and the files can be much much smaller.

GIF is essentially lots of layers of different pictures that go into a sequence. Imagine taking 20 individual pictures and putting them together to make a mini movie. That means a fairly large file if your project is big. If its just to make a small looping image, then gif is more than enough. Like a blinking 'light', a bouncing arrow, an animated emoticon like in this forum, etc.

If you want to make larger files, with text, graphics moving a lot, lots of graphics, sounds, etc, the only way to go is Flash.
