Are you trying to use the .Mac SMTP server? Why not just use the one provided by your ISP?

I do not want to use the Tele 2 server for outgoing mail as they charge extra for this service and I've already paid to use .mac. Right?

    Easy one.

Next time this happens, relaunch Mail.

Double-click on the divider bar between the message list and the rendering view. Voila, Rendering view goes away.

Select the offending message. Hit Cmd-Shift-F to forward it to Apple. This may or may not trigger the bug. If it does, go through the above steps again, but then Save As... the message. Then send that as an attachment.

When it is sent, Delete it.

Double-click divider bar at bottom of screen, and rendering view returns.

OK, I guess my ability to ask questions should improve:

Question 1: Does .mac have a relaying server or whatever, so that I can send e-mail with Mail without using the Tele2 server (Tele2 charges extra for this)? I use Panther 3.5 and a G4 PowerBook, bought the day Jaguar was released. Tele2 provides ADSL 8 Mbit/s.

Please could anyone answer question 1?

Comment: I do not think Mail and Safari suck. However, the collaboration between Tele2 and .Mac could improve. This is true also for a few other third-party companies I've had contacted, e g SonyEricsson re a cell phone called k700i and a USB cable DCU-11. I have a REALLY tragicomic e-mail correspondence, that I may send to the person helping me with question 1.

Yes. .Mac provides its own smtp server.

You should be able to unless Tele2 blocks communication; ask them. I use .Mac with Mail over my ISP.

When I tried to reply to "TalkSense101", Safari crashed. Thus, I submitted a detailed bug report to Apple. I will definitely ask Tele2 if they block communication. There have been other problems with Tele2 with blocked communication.

Were you interested in the SonyEricsson communication?

Have a nice day (?). http://forums.appleinsider.com/newre...postid=691428# In Linköping it is 8 AM.

PS. Question 2. I've also asked a Forum at AppleInsider a question re Hidden Files (on PCs) on USB Flash Drives. No replies so far... http://forums.appleinsider.com/newre...postid=691428#

Do Mail and Safari Suck? Nope. They actually rule and in my opinion are both the best email/browser available. I had used both Explorer and Outlook before they were released and liked them a lot but when Apple released these programs I fell in love with them and waved IE/Outlook good bye. They are so stable, fast, user friendly and simple while still including everything you need to do what they are meant to do and also integrate so well with ther other Apple applications like Mail's integration with iPhoto for example.

I had never been a fan of the Calendar feature of Outlook/Entourage but when iCal was released I started using it and now use it everyday and it also integrates with Mail and the Address Book.

I gave Entourage 2004 a try the other day and found it to be too overloaded with interface elements and features that I don't use or that either iCal or Mail perform in a better way.

I just can't wait till they release Tiger which comes with v2.0 of Safari and Mail(and iCal I hope!).

anyone else noticed we lost the topic starter?

The only complaint I have with safari is the slight lag when changing from tab to tab. For mail my complaint in the slide out side bar, if I am using expose while the program starts the bar sometimes misaligns...
