Need to switch from lousy Dell (tech svc terrible since Dell changed to off-shore sub)? Would like to wait to determine if the IMAC would be enhanced such as speed or video RAM? Any educated guesses?
There is always a problem with buying a new computer... the best thing would probably buy when it FIRST comes out, even though that is when it is the priciest... but then you will get the most use out of it before you need to buy a newer one.
I bought my powermac g4 when it first came ou in '99...i have upgraded a few times.. it still runs fine.... I will probably get a new computer in a year, a portable, and hopefully in that time there will be a killer (even more so than now) portable.... Because i would hate that to buy a computer, wait a month, and find a newer one out for the same price but better specs.....
Nebagakid, you might get more life out of it with a PowerLogix upgrade. I have a 500 Sawtooth, and I have put in a Radeon 8500 and a Powerlogix dual GHz upgrade, and could not be happier. It cooks right along. I think I might even get 18 months plus more out of it.

Yeah, I added an 8500... I am gonna have this until I go off to college (that is if any one of those places decide to take me , hee hee)(which would be in...uhm...2005?) then I will want to have a powerbook to lug around! So, yeah, I may think about a DUAL Ghz upgrade, a DVD burner, and other assortments, but right now, I am feeling good. I use this for video editing, web server, and a lot of stuff.
I hope that in 2 years time, some great will come out for me to get!
But yeah, wait until new products come out to get something... Like, if you are going off to college, wait until after July show to get a 'book
Don't do anything until at least Saturday the 25th. That's when the new iLife bundle goes on sale. There's also a new Dallas retail store opening that day. I can't imagine Steve waiting beyond that date to bump the iMacs and eMacs.
BTW, first rule as a Mac user: it's always "Mac", never "MAC". It's an abbreviation, not an acronym.
....And whenever you refer to the head of our beloved company around here, it is "Master Steve Jobs"....not just "Steve Jobs".... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
they seem to do releases on monday or tuesdays...so i say wait till the 27th or 28th to make your purchase...most likely updated iMacs and eMacs at that time...g

It's always great to welcome a switcher.

Second rule, the i is ALWAYS lowercase. iMac, iBook, iLife, not IMac Imac or IMAC.
We are kinda touchy about that around here.
