Any problems with the 30" monitor? I want one bad,

but shelling out $3200 for a lemon would kill me

dead, so I have to check.

Yeah, many many many problems. For starters, it is WAY too big! I thought Apple would learn people don't like even the size of the Mac Classic. Even that was too large... I say we need iPod size screens. Secondly, it's resolution is much too low! Come on Apple! What are you thinking? We need at least 10,000 x 14400 or something like that! Sheesh. I guess they shoulda gone with that dual quadruple DVI card by ATI. See, bad things happen when you use Nvidia. Let's see... It also looks way too awesome. Having this thing in your room will most certainly keep you from having any form of intelligent conversation while being in close proximity. Seriously though, I had the chance to play with one the other week and found it nothing short of amazing. The amount of stuff that could fit on screen was breathtaking, and the display itself looks so slick. I was also impressed with how easy it is to adjust the angle. I thought it would be hard to move, but all you have to use is a finger. Anyways, as far as I have heard this model does not have any of the issues that the smaller ones have been known to have. If you are going to shell out 3200 on a monitor, this is the way to do it! Then again, you would most likely hate the monitor now that I think of it, and you should write a personal check to me...

I talked to the guy at the local apple

store, and it looks like they will set it

up and let me see it before I buy, which

makes me a lot more comfortable.

Anything to look for besides dead pixels and

color balance? I don't want to get the pink

tint that some of the 23" displays have.

hmm.... apple stores should have had it set up months ago. (mine did)

but anyways, just do your regualr stuff with the monitor. go through your routine and see how having a huge display affects your interaction with the apps. for me, opening up final cut pro and seeing everything spread so far apart was kinda a let down. space is good, but you have to be able to navigate quickly to be efficient. but that's my own jodgement--see for yourself.

I meant that they would set up the particular unit that

I would be buying. They have a display unit, which has

    been up for a while.
