Also, a lot of the "Apple Store is down!" screaming happens when it's actually unreachable, usually meaning network or server problems. That "We'll be back soon" postit appears during keynotes. I'm sure it's also appeared during random scheduled maintenance (backups, etc.), but I've got my fingers crossed...

    Hi Relic

Screaming is when you write everything in CAPITALS like you did in your subject. But that's ok with me as i was waiting for that as well. i think something new is coming from apple today. ;-)

    cheers

Oh, this is good. Now the US store is down. Just as I was practicing putting an iMac in my cart. Heheh.

I'm from Zurich. Nice to meet you. Swiss people are rare on this forum.

    Yup. I know where his house is, too. <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[surprised]" />

I'll take the "1", but how about you put a "GHz Powerbook" after it instead.

Remember that they could be rebuilding a database to fix the faulty 'ship times' or some other type of 'normal maitinence'.

On the other hand, there could be updated machines when it opens back up. I just wonder how big an update it could be if it doesn't get any press at all.

Actually, I was playing with the US store immediately before it went down, and checked on "my" $30,000+ cart with various products in it, and noticed some differences. Namely, 15" PBs were now all of a sudden 1-2 days, 22" Cinema now 7-10 days from 3-5, Xserves both now 1-2 days from 30, Dual 1.25Ghz 5-7 days from I think 3-5...

And yes, I paid very close attention to the item descriptions -- no change.

The screen means upgrade of some products and possibly some new ones. Apple doesn't post this type of screen unless new stuff is in the offing. This is the same screen used during the Keynotes. U.S. is down as welll. Something should be up by 9 AM Eastern I guess.

Sometimes Apple *does* use that stickie note page for actual maintenance.
