The anticipation is killing me! I ordered mine the day after the keynote, Jan 12, 5:00PM (EST) and Apple lists the ETA as "on or before 2-11-05". Any likelihood that will come much sooner? I'm really hoping that's just a conservative ETA and not actual.
Off-topic: surbahns, what PDA is that in the background? It looks like a Dell Axim X50v (at least the cradle part anyway) but it appears to have a flip cover or something.\

Good eyes you have. It is a Axim X50v. Love it. Havn't tried using it with the mac yet. Apprently there are all kinda of 3rd part syncing apps for it. Or atleast thats what I'm being told on http://www.aximsite.com/boards/ .

Are you using a flip cover of some sort?
Back to topic: Forgot to mention mine is BTO, base model mini with SuperDrive.
I have the Rhino-skin for it. It was an optional accessory on their site when I ordered it. Its really adds a good level of protection to the device. I'm always putting my pda in my pant pocket, and I never wanted loose pocket change or car keys to potently scratch up the screen.
(Strongly Recommend the purchase if you don't already have something covering the screen)
Let me just say for the record that I hate all of you people that received you Minis. One day, I and other like me still waiting will rise up and conquer the world. On that day, your names will be on the list of those to be executed. Pleasant dreams.
Comments
from the old mac.
I had trouble at first. My USB hub works unpowered, but "works better"
if you add a 5v wall wart. My PC worked with the hub, but not the
mac - I got a picturgram that I interpreted as "add batteries to your
wireless mouse", so I plugged the USB cables directly into the
mini and it started working - hopefully when I get a wall wart the
hub will work again.
I ran XBench, and I got 130 or so. The lowest scores (60) were
for disk access, so I think that I may upgrade to a 7200 rpm
notebook drive at some point.
Anyway, it is noticably faster and quieter than my wife's 1GHz
Emac. It is not totally silent, though, the hard drive makes
some noise during access.

Edit:
Ups, didnt read all the comments for this (nonworking?) Hint.
Anyway, you should bookmark www.versiontracker.com to get helpful software and drag the Applications folder to the Dock.
But I got the standard shipping so it's not scheduled to get here until the 24th.

I ordered it last Friday.

What configuration? I ordered less than 36 hours after the keynote (considered late to some). And have a ship by of 02/11/05.
What was your ship by before the ship date if for real?
And what config?
I am sure you are telling the truth, just hard to believe.

Its okay. Also, until Apple has it posted on their website. Here is a copy of the Macmini manual:

Why did apple not recomend use of a surge protector, or UPS for safety...
Damn it.
Got the 1.42 GHZ model with 512 MB ram, Superdrive, BT, and Airport.
Wireless KB and mouse have been here a week.

Mine was a BTO model. Ordered first thing once the
apple store let me in after the keynote. Received
in North Carolina yesterday 5pm.
immediately after the keynote and was given a ship on or
before date of Jan 21st. It arrived ahead of schedule today
in pittsburgh.

Well, 1-21 is almost freakin over.
Good job Apple.
Here is a nice little screw you I got:
" Dear Valued Apple Customer,
We appreciate your recent Apple Store Order Wxxxxxxx
Due to an unexpected supply delay, we are unable to ship the following
item(s) by the date that you were originally quoted:
Z0B807C2X, PMG4/512/80G/SD/BT+AP/OS-X/LL
will now ship on or before 01/27/2005.
Shocked and stunned that Apple has supply problems.
Thank you Apple.
And you wonder why you will be forever entrenched with a 3% market share.
Oh, and I ordered less than 24 hours after the keynote too. Guess I had to order 5 minutes after. Shame on me I guess.
Peace
