Internet Hosts : Who Are The Best?

Posted:
in General Discussion edited January 2014
Okay kids,

I'm pissed off because I'm paying $35/month for hosting and I find out today that the implementation of PHP on my hosts' servers requires all PHP files to have the extension of ".php4", which means a total rewrite of any modern PHP code.

Bigger deal? They don't have support for SQL, so no modern database functionality for my website.

I'm ready to entertain the idea of switching hosts.

What do you think a good hosting plan is, and who do you recommend?

Thanks!

check out <a href="http://www.jmug-connect.net"; target="_blank">JMUG Connect</a>. I host MacWrite.com with them. they are great $20/month with PHP and MySQL.

    They are also 100% Macintosh.

Another advantage, to upload files, just mount your user folder via AppleShare.

I will be hosting all my Mac sites with them. ( I am launching another Mac site soon that should interwst all of you).

Thought I'd contribute to this thread...

I've found a fairly robust set of hosting options over at <a href="http://www.interland.com"; target="_blank">Interland's</a> website. It's definitely not cheap...but it has pro-level features that size up to corporate-level features.

    Nice mix.

Funny thing about discussing internet hosts on the web is that you forget that geography plays into the discussion. The .au-based host is a LITTLE too far away from my location on this planet.
