Strangers network works, but mine doesn't give me access.
My wireless airport express thing will not connect properly to my network.
There is some dude with another linksys network which I can connect to fine...in fact, its what I've been using the whole time on my mac, but my stronger signal is the linksys router I own. Thing is, whenever I connect to it, NOTHING WORKS!
AIM gives me an error saying the host network or some shit wasn't found, every browser gives me an error that the page could not be found. And all this while the signal strength is strong.
I have been tweaking to death with my linksys settings so it would first recognize my router, and now once it does, it doesn't allow me to connect to anything.
Whats going on?

Airport Express recognizes my signal....however, it fails to connect to any web based program or browser.
Meanwhile, I am picking up a weaker signal, that is NOT mine, and that signal works fine.
Now what I want to do is, use MY signal, not the other signal which doesn't belong to me. My signal is stronger, and its....well...mine!
I don't know how to go about browsing the web and using messengers when nothing will connect on my signal.
That is where I need help.

airport express? What hardware are you trying to use - a linksys and airport express?
My G5 has the Airport Express wireless....so my G5 is the wireless machine.
Apple's AirportExpress is a small base station. You plug a network connection into it, and it then allows wireless clients to access that network connection. If you think that it is a USB WiFi adapter, then you are off base. Your computer should not be attached to the USB port. It can be used as a WiFi extender, and even a bridge, but this is only sure to work when you have another Airport Base Station as the other item in the network.
There is also the AirportExtreme Base Station, and AirportExtreme cards to allow Apple computers to be wireless clients. Are you just getting the names confused or are you confused on what the hardware does? Your associating the wireless router and the PC makes me believe the former, but you could also be confusing a wireless router and a WiFi client card.
Now, you need to back up and start from the beginning. Not simple re-word what you have already said again. You also need to list all of the components you have (making sure you know what is what).

AirPort Base Stations can only extend AirPort base station networks. BUT I think they can still work with other networks.
Go onto the Apple web-site and check what you've got. If the AirPort is in your computer it's a WiFi card - called Airport Extreme. If you've got a AirPort Express you've got a power adaptor size box with USB Port, audio out and ethernet.

anyways I fixed it
The way to solve this is to narrow down the possible faults.
#1) Wireless not connecting
Log into your router using your wireless card. If it works, good. If not, tell us.
#2) Check the IP address of your router. (Note, this is different than DHCP) Does the IP address start with 192.168.XXX.XXX? If it uses something else, good. If it is, tell us.
#3) Can you ping. Open Network utility (Hard drive->Applications->Utilities->Network Utility) Click the ping tab. Type in www.google.com and click Ping. If lines of text start popping up, good If nothing happens, tell us.
#4) Try going to Google.com. If this works, you're done. If not, tell us.
