In order to do this Hotmail would have to allow POP or IMAP access which I don't believe they do, so unfortunately this is not possible. An alternative, albeit an expensive one is Entourage. Another alternative would be to use GMail, since Google provides POP access.

Well, hotmail doesn't offer POP but Gmail does, as has been noted above. If you have Gmail and want to set up that one this is what you'll need to do:

    1. Incoming mail server = pop.gmail.com

    2. Account type = POP.

    3. Outgoing mail server = smtp.gmail.com

You need to remember to use SSL/Secure Connection. If you don't have a Gmail account and want one, PM me and I will send you an invitation as it's in Beta stage right now and not open to the public.

there's a httpmail plugin for mail.app, which lets you retrieve hotmail.

Well IF it is not essential to you

i would drop that Hotmail account as

soon as possible. Get another free account.

In order to make the "transition" smooth, you'd

get another free mail account, forward all your

hotmail stuff to this new account, and retrieve all

mails with mail.app. Perhaps this works for you - and

all your fellows who learned the Hotmail adress.

Yeah, i know Hotmail sux, but ive been using it for years and couldn't be bothered changing. Anyway, now i can use Mail to check it all for me... so i don't even need to go to that ugly MSN site
