PB Ambient lit keyboards for desktop line?

in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
Here's a thought. One of the most popular features of the new PB's seem to be the ambient lit keyboard.

I think it would be a great feature to have available on a new Apple branded keyboard for desktops. Perhaps cordless as well, but not a necessity.

Heck while we're at it, do the same for the new two button scroll mouse.

I agree: new scroll two button mouse, wireless k/b with lighting though I'd press for it to be on the wireless k/b no matter what since that'll be the premium k/b (and the one I want to use :-).

Rechargeable batteries are cheap and easy.

I would hate to have to keep on charging my mouse, it is one of those things that I always liked... not having to be plugged in to a power outlet (i know, it is plugged in, but you know what I mean)

    make it solar powered!!!!!!! <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" /> <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" /> <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />

i think they should build the wireless receiver for a mouse into the keyboard. That would be so tight.

Why hasn't someone done this stuff!!!

I hate those bulky recievers, too. How about Bluetooth as connection? The end of all reciever standard wars and their bulkiness (sp?).

Apple should release an ambient keyboard with a cord (i.e. not cordless). Apple should release a cordless mouse that you can recharge by plugging into the keyboard. You would only recharge once a month, but it would be much cooler than running low on bettery power and having to make a run to the store for batteries so that you can use your mouse. Just my 2 cents.

yes- have the keyboard plug into the computer w/ bluetooth built into the keyboard and then have a bluetooth mouse to go along with the keyboard.

Have the keyboard backlit and sell the wired keyboard/wireless bluetooth mouse combo for $100. That way you can add bluetooth to any modern mac.

Who needs a cordless keyboard anyway.

A wireless lighted keyboard? The batteries in that would last a really long time <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I'd have to agree a little more with yevgeny. Although I'd like to point out (just because I'm anal about this sort of thing), the PB keyboard is not "ambient lit." It has ambient light sensors so that as the room gets dark, the keyboard light comes on. Backlit would be a more accurate term.

I would so love to have that. I vote yes.

Apple should keep selling the current keyboard and mouse, except cheaper, then also start offering a backlit keyboard as their 'pro' keyboard.

Yes, an Apple scroll mouse, complete with both left and right clicks would be great!

I'm not so hot on the scroll button mainly since it can only scroll up or down and they always have terrible resolution.

I would prefer a button when pressed would use the mouse movement to scroll a window up/down/left/right.

i have yet to understand why you would want a wireless mouse...or keyboard unless u had a laptop. do you really move ur keyboard around alot?! my mouse cord doesn't get stuck on anything, truth is i never even notice it (then again use a LONG USB cord and have slack behind the comp desk)

ambient light keyboard would be sweet...but it wouldn't be ambient light would it, imean it would glow and that would be sweet but they aren't useing light from the monitor for the desktop line are they?

My reason is probably somewhat unique, but I'll share anway. I have terrible wrists. No, it isn't from any form of RSI, but the last doctor I had seen in regardst to this thought that it could have been caused by the excessive amounts of antibiotics (cipro, to be exact) I had to take after a surgery 2 years ago. Anyway, in order to continue to use the computer, I taught myself to use the mouse (placed on the floor, of course) with my feet. My left big toe controls the wheel on my cordless mouse and my right big toe controls the buttons. With a cord, this would be very inconvienent.

Again, my reason is probably unique, but this is why I _need_ a cordless.

Charging a mouse isn't so bad... I put my Logitech MX700 on the base every few nights before I go to bed... not bad at all.

well ur situation is pretty unique

i can see why you would need one, but i hardly see that apple shoudl do somethign for the small percentage of people in ur position.

...and charging a mouse isn't big work but its work that isn't needed and seen as a hassle by most people

I personally don't want to see this happens.

If so we are forced to pay more for something we don't need for the already overpriced Power Macs

I would buy a current Pro keyboard made by Apple with the same feature the 17"er has, with sensors and lights...
