Actually the 6200 is passively cooled. It would be a considerable improvement to the 5200....

i think the most likely update is a Radeon 9600 XT. but then they'd also have to up the card on the PM's too. but it seems as if the 9600 is really the next step up for the current existing cards. also, if an imac update is imminent, i'd assume a bump to 512 mb ram, and a small processor increase. i doubt the hard drive will increase. just my thoughts

Sorry my bad, I was looking at the "turbo-Cache" 6200, which seems to be passively cooled, however, I dont think Apple will use this, the hardware implementation is too PC specific I think. I can't find any passively cooled "normal" 6200 cards so maybe this isn't an option for the iMac. Maybe they will go with a mobile GPU? They are certainly a lot more powerful these days.

Why the insistence on passive cooling? The 20" iMac should have enough space inside for another fan or two. Perhaps some kind of liquid cooling system with a fan on the side, as Sega's Dreamcast used.

The Radeon 9800 Pro only has a small heat sink and fan on top. Pretty minor stuff, nothing like the monster cooling solutions on the top NVidia cards.

As for Hard Drives, 3.5" drives are up to 400gb now aren't they? Any reason why Apple couldn't offer one of those on BTO? Actually is there anything stopping someone popping one of those in by themselves? I assume it would work okay...?
