I think of all the Macs, the best looking are the current Powerbook, the current PowerMac and the Mac Mini (sans accessories). The iMac looks terrific as well. Of course this is a new day. Back in the day the Powerbook G3 was the best looking laptop for quite some time. Nowadays, the MAcs jsut look serious. Not like toys anymore (a la fruit colors). They look like serious machines with unparralelled refinement and classy design. The aluminum and white scheme represents years of refining an original design goal. And it has paid off in spades. Take a look at the plasitc PM g4s and now the G5s. Then look at the TiBook with its early use of metal and black trim. Now look at the monochromatic AluBook, with its sleek aluminum and light grey trim. Definitely a more integrated and professional look. Absolutely stunning. I do not know if it is possible to improve on this. Adding colors or dark trim would be a backwards step. I sincerely hope that this look (in various evolutions of this form) stays for quite some time, because they finally got it right on the button.
i honestly think all the colors look tacky. black, silver, and white look awesome together and its definitely forward thinking. colors can still work, but they run a big risk of looking like they came out of the 20th century. just my opinion.

Colours are too personal. Computers need to be neutral to attract as many people as possible. Also nothing comes close to looking as sexy as my PowerBook (computer speaking!)
I'd like to see a Darth Vader color gloss black case on a new PowerMac.
while that may sound cool I don't think it's very practicle. If your tower is exposed, you run the risk of damaging that beautiful black gloss look with just bumping it with your shoe and you know you're going to want to show it if it's so shiny. Yes, your can also damage the casing on the current PowerMac, but that takes a little more effort.
I'm betting that the next PowerBook and powermacs are going to be silver with some white, very clean and simple, something along the lines of the Mac Mini. The vast color selection of older macs does not look to have a strong chance of making a comeback.

Mini, iMac, eMac, iPod ands iBook all use shiny poly-carbonate which gets stains really easily. Nothing should be shiny on portable devices. iBooks and iPods look awful after a few months.

totally... that's why i am very happy with my Silver 1st gen iPod mini. This beast is so scratch resistant, even the screen, man..!! i dumped my protective case more than a month ago. The Mac Mini sides should be quite scratch resistant, but the demo model I saw, the bottom and top gets a bit scuffled because of that shiny white polycarbonate.

Yeah Apples last longer than other companies but the polycarbonate doesn't. It's a design feature! My sister's iBook looks awful after a few months, but she's not very careful with new stuff. My iPod still looks pristine, although there are a few scratches in the metal. My 3rd Gen iPod looks dreadful.
