Post Your Desktop (2005 edition)

I love the old thread, I do, but it's too work-unfriendly.

New thread with new rules.

- If it's not safe for an average workplace it does not belong in this thread. Don't push it. Don't think you're clever, because you're not. Don't bemoan the prudishness of whatever society blah blah blah and use that as an excuse. Trust me, you'll survive, you artistic genius.

- Nothing wider than 640 pixels. Anything wider than that should be thumbnailed. If you don't know how to make a thumbnail, figure it out. Don't break tables with your fatness, Fatty McFat.

- If possible, please provide a link to the biggest source desktop image you have, we may want to grab it up and try to be just like you.

- Did you read the first rule? Read it again.

- Explain what your desktop is and where you got it. This is a question we all think when we see desktops, so satisfy our curiosity, won't you?

Love and kisses!

I will get us started off right!

This is album art from David Bowie's Diamond Dogs. I always disliked Bowie because I hated that '80s sell-out crap and that's what I grew up with. Only recently have I discovered his early stuff and it's pretty damned good. Now I understand why he was popular in the first place.

Here's a couple I like for wallpaper. I excluded my actual desktop, since it only has the Macintosh HD and a fairly basic Dock on it. That way you can use these as your own!

    The picture I use now.

    Another nice one.

    Hope you like em!

I always like nice scenic shots.

If you have vanilla icons I can see not posting your desktop, but if anyone has interesting icons or obscure apps these threads can be just as useful for finding that type of thing as it can for finding desktop backgrounds.

I've got this adorable puppy as my home desktop. He's not mine, but damn do I wish he was.

You can't go wrong with Calvin & Hobbes.

Looks like one of Marilyn Manson's watercolors. I don't know how many people will be wanting to show that one off at work.

Anyone who understands my handle won't be the least bit surprised by my desktop.

Actually, I have an alternate desktop for those times when I have to run OS9, but I'm not proficient enough to post a usable image. It's a great shot of Moya from Farscape.

Also, I have a PC *gasp!* on which I have a map of Middle Earth. Gets a bit distracting at time.

Lord of the Rings. Farscape. Mac. Does this make me a true geek?
