Avalon will support vector based applications. Will Core Image/Quartz support this as well?

It looks like Apple is headed this way. The problem seems to be the widgets that aren't drawn with vectors. I supposed Apple could have developers create widgets with multiple sizes and swap out the appropriate bitmapped widget to match the rest of the vector app.

Tiger has the beginnings of resolution independence deep down in the bowels but this won't be turned on until other parts of the OS evolve to handle RI.

Actually, Tiger will support resolution independence fully. It will be off by default, though, to give time for application developers (including Apple itself) to convert their apps to the new paradigm. Then, when Apple flips the switch, 10.5 will be resolution independent in practice, not just in theory.

Apple has nothing to worry about from Avalon.
