I have a 17in 1.67, and the problem is driving me crazy. If i am away from the unit for 10 minutes or more and come back the touch pad is non-responsive. It will come back after a few secondss (20 or so), but it is hard to deal with all of the time. I have noticed that if i turn off 2 fingered scrolling that the problem is less, however i really like the feature. O well.
I was in the Apple store in Towson MD and the demo 17" PB had continual problems with the trackpad - Apple staff kept doing the 'cover the pad with your palm' act but a few minutes later the problem was back. Solution seems to to be to get an external mouse for replacement desktop use but Apple staff admitted that they have no foolproof solution to trackpad problems. I am sure it will be solved but like many others I will wait till Tiger is released in the hope that the problem is solved by then.
