The only announcements that are not EST 9.00AM are keynotes and events. I'm not ruling out any announcements today, but it's slim.

Apple sends out press releases at various times throughout the day. There is no 'only announce at 9am EST' pattern.

There is no set rule but the chances greatly decrease as it gets later than 9am because most press releases move the stock and therefore are released before the opening bell.

March 10 2:48 PM EST - Apple adopts Blu-ray Technology

March 2 9:54 AM EST - iTMS Downloads Surpass 300 Million

February 23 8:40 AM EST - Apple Releases New iPod minis and photos

February 11th 9:34 AM EST - Apple Announces Stock Split

January 31st 9:10 AM EST - Apple Releases New PowerBooks

January 24th 9:40 AM EST - iTMS Tops One Quarter Billion Songs Sold

    January 12th 3:41 PM EST - Apple's Q1 2005 Financial Results Webcast

so as you can see most announcements of new products etc. are announced at around 9.00, events such as web-casts and the exception of the blu-ray which was probably negotiated that morning. Look at the product announcement history on MacRumors website.

Ha! Shows how much you know!

But my point is still that. Once its installed, then what (OK, besides searching for some lost porn)? I mean, I guess it'll be thrilling to go through and find out what software Apple has now completely hosed or thrown out (I'm betting on Sherlock being completely missing!), and try to figure out where they've moved the other stuff (Calculator, oh, crap, that's a widget now..). Oh, and of course, trying to find the cool changes made to Chess. That's what you're all getting it for, right? The revamped Chess program!

No, then I use my computer more efficiently using smart mailboxes for my flagged messages, and attachments. I'll automatically keep my artwork in folders using spotlight and make quick calculations using widgets (Calculator will still be there for the advanced stuff - unless it's integrated into the graph maker). I'll use Safari RSS for news to save me time. Tiger will also take better use of my 128MB ATI Radeon card and will therefore be faster. Motion 2 will require Tigerso there's another reason.

Every reason I use a computer and use Mac is why I'm going to upgrade to Tiger.

I agree. I could live with Panther for a little bit longer but tiger will really boost my productivity.I plan to take advantage of all of the new features except Spotlight because i tend to be very organized with my HD,. That is, unless i can get it to find certain stuff in my word docs.

I know there are dangers of early adaption but that is why i will have at least two backups of my 10.3 system (one bootable and the other, an image locked in a HD in a safe). Then, depending on space, i will backup Tiger as soon as it is installed so if something gets corrupted, i can revert back. That is, assuming CCC works with tiger

    Right, i'll give some reasons.

The Apple team have been working for over a year on this, they need a break (most of them are on holiday now).

What's the point in releasing an OS at a Developer's conference, you should tell people how many have bought the OS in the first two months.

Apple want to restrict the media attention to Windows 64 bit

Apple wants the new video Apps to work straight away - they'll require Motion.

There are always bugs - as you said it can take months to fix them. The question is will Apple benefit from releasing a few months later? Probably not.

    I don't know it's April 1st!!! Who told you?

Sorry the reason I ask is because you get people on this forum who make statements like fact and they have no clue.

Well based on the size of Tiger, that is probubly pretty close to correct.

I can see it being on 5 or 6 cds.

Those are your reasons. but they are not real reasons. They are "I want it now" reasons.

They need a break? Most are on holiday? Very funny.

They don't have to tell people how many they've sold in the last two months. Besides, with the rebate, it's the hottest selling piece of software Amazon has up there now, and it's not even out.

There's not much they could do about that. It's mostly for the geek and enterprise crowd.

Apple has never worried about whether their new video apps worked right away. I've got them, and had to wait for the new OS before.

There ARE always bugs. The more that are fixed, the less to fix later. Apple is in a fight with MS AND Linux right now. If only one nasty bug makes it through, think of all the publicity THAT will get.

    Anyway, it's 12:20 p.m., and it's not here.
