    Just a bump, but it looks good. I think I'll be grabbing the 2.3Ghz when it comes out, after Apple ships it 2 months later that is.

    Check out the updated iMac specs...... (from the same TS link)

    "the updated iMac G5, code-named Q45 C/D, will reach 2GHz, while video memory is doubled to 128MB and the card itself upgraded to ATI's Radeon 9600. All models will also feature Bluetooth 2.0 and will ship pre-installed with Tiger and iLife '05.

    Two 17-inch and one 20-inch model will continue to be offered in the following configurations:

    * "Good" 17-inch, 1.8GHz

    o 512K L2 cache

    o 512MB DDR SDRAM

    o 160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive

    o Combo Drive (CD-RW/DVD-ROM)

    * "Better" 17-inch, 2GHz

    o 512K L2 cache

    o 512MB DDR SDRAM

    o 160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive

    o SuperDrive (supporting dual-layer as well as DVD±RW/CD-RW burning)

    * "Best" 20-inch, 2GHz

    o 512K L2 cache

    o 512MB DDR SDRAM

    o 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive

    o SuperDrive (supporting dual-layer as well as DVD±RW/CD-RW burning)

    Other specifications will remain unchanged; pricing is expected to remain in line with current models."

    Seems a video card upgrade is looking more hopeful! About time although a widely predicted move given core image requirements in Tiger. I realise the NVidia 5200 supports core image but the ATI 9600 is definitely an improvement!!??

    Great! Definitely waiting till end of month before I order one.

    I think I can feel a 20" iMac G5 2ghz coming on.

    What is a Radeon 9650? Never heard of it, and it's nowhere to be found on ati.com....

    hmmmm.... it's not on the list of Tiger supported cards on apple.com either! I've never heard of it. \

    I think the 9650 is a 9600 with some extra features. I concluded this because their was a 9550 with DX 9 support.

    I googled it, but couldn't find more on short notice.

    You missed the important bit about TS not knowing if they are 970MP's or 970GX... so it can be supa xtra special yet...

    Gotta hope so. I won't be very excited about a mere 200Mhz speed bump with no PCI-Express.

    /me continues sitting on his wallet.

    I think if they update this week or this month. They will get a new update by christmas with ?blu-ray?, speed bump and new graphics and connectors.

    Off topic: I think I know why the xbox 2 wasn't announced at GDC. Apple is using same type of proccessors as the new xbox in their new lineup. Apple, with its secrecy didn't want Microsoft to get the scoop of dual cores. Just an idea.

    ...no sign of new iBooks Looks like they might not see an update until sometime in the summer....probably when the next Powerbook update comes along.

    weren't the 970mp and 970gx supposed to have more L2 cache? 1MB?

    I thought the same thing, will be kind of disappointing if it turns out not to be.

    Yeah, that's what I noticed too. It looks like these are just dual processor machines, not dual core.

    Yes I believe the specs for the dual core 970MP are 1mb of L2 cache.... these new specs list 512k..so it seems these are still the old single core chips.

    If the iBook's aren't being upgraded along with the PowerMac, eMac and iMac at the same time, this could mean the iBook receives a new design.

    I cant believe that would be the yearly update for there Pro line. they need to spark sales of the big iron which in turn will look good for there pro Apps. I'm believing for more than a 2.7FX.... it that's it, it would suck.

    TS may be close on these specs, but they are still not sure

    about dual core vs single core processors.

    This tells me that their source is just speculating as we are.

    The front page article also did not clearly specify PCI-X

    or PCI-E with the doubling of GPU RAM

    If this forecast is correct then once again, many will be disappointed

    that Apple has fallen behind on the pro video PCI-E issue.

    There is also no mention of water cooling vs fan cooling for these

    processors.

    I have to consider that any leaks at this time may have been deliberately planted to trace the source.

    I suppose many will be content that this release will be a Rev C G5

    in the existing chassis rather than a Rev A in some new form factor.

    It would not suck if it was "only" 2.5 GHz but in quad configuration (double dual core). Or usual dual processor but up to 3-3.2 GHz. But it is true that this report has lower expectations even from the most conservative estimations I have read so far.

    I think if this prediction/report comes out true, then people here and elsewhere need to start getting used to the new Apple reality. Otherwise I see them either taking pills for breakfast or switching.
