Quicktime7 on Panther/Tiger h.264-Encoded Test Clip

It's here... Too much to do too much to say... If you are on Panther or Tiger, this should play back smoooth on Quicktime 7 (free)



CLIP 01

5.4mb, (right-click and save as/download)

(encoded with Quicktime 7 Pro h.264, single pass,

video rate limited to 1000kbits/sec,

640x272 pixels)

4.5mb (right-click and save as/download)

(encoded with Quicktime 7 Pro h.264, multi-pass,

video rate limited to 800kbits/sec,

    The multi-pass is much better than the single-pass version (as it shoould be).

    I have to say I am very impressed with QT7. Not just for it's handling of AVC but because of how it handles some codecs it used to hate as well.

    yup i tried encoding the clip at 1600kbits/sec at full anamorphic dvd res (816x336 pixels for 2.35:1 aspect ratio) and



    it played back full screen really smoothly on my iBook 933mhz G4 256mb ram

    no worries.... 1600kbps or so clip coming up... multi-pass is da way to go

    H.264 is great. I can't wait until most things are encoded with this codec - it should transform web video. With the small file sizes/high quality.
