360 photo then pan in quicktime

My son has a project where he has made a 360 degree picture (that turned out pretty good). Now he wants to pan around like in a quicktime movie from the picture he has made. Once he can do that he will put it into iMovie. He has added things to the picture so when he gets the panning to work it will be a funny time lapse movie. Any links to a tutorial or inexpensive app are appreciated.

Thanks for the reply and the links. That was just what I needed. I have used the Canon stitch before and it works real good. I did not know that it had VR on there.
