iPod photo in a darkroom

I do a lot of work in a darkroom environment and my current 4G 20GB iPod works fine since I keep the backlighting off. I can still read it with the safety lights on, though.

I'm out of disc space and have been comtemplating upgrading to a roomier and more colorful model. However, it would be worthless to me if the iPod is giving off light.

Can you tell me how bright the Photo model is?

It's got a brighter backlight as it has a white background but if the backlight is off there shouldn't be a difference.

You could put red cellophane over the screen, just as they do with the lights, or better yet modify an ipod case in the same way.

You should be able to read the screen with the red lights on - it's just as easy as the older ones - at the right angle.
