tape stutters when capturing video in Final Cut

I was capturing video into final cut when I noticed that that tape kept stopping and kept checking for timecode breaks.



I used a canon XL2 to tape and now i'm using a sony mini dv camcoerder to play the tape and import it to final cut.



i know the tape will play fine in the canon but i cant figure out why it's playing all wrong on the sony.



has this happened to anyone else before?

    This is common when you've got two different makes of camera in the process. The make of tape can also be a factor.



    You'll need to digitize using the original camera if possible. Or else you'll have to digitize in one big chunk.

    I have a Canon GL1 that won't play nicely with other cameras or DEC's. I learned this turning in my final for a video class! Not cool.

    this is an odd incompatibility problem...
