Benchmarking Tools

What is the best benchmarking tool for OS X. We are working on my schools tech budget for next year and we want to see if upgrading certain computers is worth the RAM and time and/or a Tiger upgrade



Free and easy would be very nice as would 10.2,10.3,10.4 compatibility

    One app: Xbench. This has tests for processor, HDs, etc. Note however, it does not test graphics card acceleration. The Opengl score is based upon CPU acceleration.



    As far as I know, it works on 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and it is free and easy. (I have used it on all these OS' at some point).

    Thanks. I just downloaded it and ran it on my mac. It is nice. I wish there was a way to set our own baseline based on an optimal school computer but this is cool none-the-less

    Be careful with Xbench. It is about the only benchmarking software but the issue is that shows far too much variability for my tastes. You need to be careful how you look at it is all.



    The best benchmark is always the software you need to use.
