New White Keyboard & Mouse?

Posted:
in Current Mac Hardware edited January 2014
I kept trying, but couldn't get a good view of the keyboard and mouse during the keynote.

I can see them on Apple's site on this page:

<a href="http://www.apple.com/imac/"; target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/imac/</a>;

But, when you click on the "Apple Pro Keyboard" or "Apple Pro Mouse" links near the bottom of the page, you just get directed to the specs page.

Anyone able to get a clear picture of these new peripherals?

Is Apple going to be selling them seperately? That keyboard would go great with my iBook.

Probably, but not right away. They'll be using all available supply for a while just by shipping them with the new iMacs. When Apple first went to the current keyboard and mouse (when they went to the DP 500 G4s), the lack of keyboard and mouse was holding up the shipment of machines. They wouldn't even ship me my system without them, which I thought was dumb.

    I got it eventually though.

What's new about the mouse? Did Jobs mention anything about it? (my feed crapped out at the worst time)

Would have been nice to see a scroll wheel added.

Actually I got a decent look at it on The Screensavers tonight on TechTV. Same look as the previous mouse, clear cover on a white base, small Apple logo visible.

Too bad they didn't make the mouse and keyboard wireless. How cool would THAT have been?!

Although I don't have one, I believe the previous mouse had a black border under the seethru top. This mouse and keyboard are white and Apple will not ship the iMac with the older versions.

Oops, I don't think I was clear in that post...

I meant it had the same "look", but with white instead of black of course.

Same clear cover on a colored base (old black, new white).

    Same shape and functionality.

Finally people with iBooks will stop bitching about the cord.

The cord on the mouse looks the same to me...

Also of note are the new USB connectors (see the pic at MacMinute of the rear of the machine).

And don't forget the new speakers (old speakers had black rings, inset was dull aluminum-like, now chrome.

    I don't think so... take a look:

That cord is wrapped around 3 times. If I wrap mine around like that it ends up too short to use.

In regards to the Pro Speakers, I'm glad to see that the plastic caps used to cover the speaker cones in shipment have been removed. I don't know who many times I saw a Cube setup in CompUSA with the inserts still covering the speakers. It made for a very muddy sound. I wouldn't be surprised if some Cube owners still have the inserts on the speakers!

I am thinking about ordering the 600Mz G3 snow imac from the apple store. Do you think I will get the new keyboard and mouse, or the old one? I think the new set would look real sharp with a snow classic imac. Anyone know if the keyboard and mouse is an "across the board" switch?

I think the CRT iMacs will probably come with the old keyboard and mouse.
