ok, I'm gonna be ordering an imac soon but i'm wondering if it is possible to install ram yourself? Is it as simple as it is in PC's? or do i have to let the apple shop do it?

If you have experience installing RAM on a PC or other computer then do it yourself. It is really easy.
The manual that comes with the machine has instructions on what to do. Follow them and you will be OK. It is probably the easiest consumer level Mac to upgrade ever. I hope they continue making it easy.
