What is official iMac name?

Is it the just iMac, iMac2 or LCD iMac?

It's confusing at times especially when a particular peripheral just says that it is compatible with the iMac (which iMac?).

    It is "iMac".

The old iMac is now "iMac G3."

On the Apple discussions site it's iMac (Flat Pannel) so that's probably what it's called.

Perhaps, imushroom or, iMacmushroom or, iMacigloo or, iMacsunflowermuchroomdesklampflatscreenG4 then there is; iMacII or, iMacG4FP or, iMac2002 or, iMac02 which seems the easiest .

I would hope, Apple could come up with a new name for their next new computer. We shall have to wait and, see.....joe

iMac 2 is most consistent with the way they're naming the iApps... iTunes --> iTunes2, iDVD --> iDVD2, etc.

Judging by the way sales are going, iMac2 may be fitting... as in "I Mac Too"

Wasn't there a band in the old iTunes sampler pack called Infected Mushroom?

I just found my new iMac's name.

Well something that puzzled me the day Apple updated the Apple Store (UK) was their ALT text for the new iMac family referring to it as the "iMac P80 family". Here is a screenie of it:

Notice below right it shows the 'old' iMac family.

I assume P80 is some sort of code used for the new iMac G4.

It is refered to on the US Apple Store as the "iMac G4 family" in the ALT tag BTW And ALL European AS have the P80 version.

    Perhaps PowerPC 800 MHZ ?

    Any other ideas??

A lot of these stores have their own codes for their stock. This may be the case.

I doubt it since the 700MHz iMacs are called the same.

I know it isn't the official name, but it may be it's well-known name: iLamp

like how it's known more as the TiBook and not the powerbook g4
