Does anyone know if there are any manufacturers besdies Keyspan that make serial to USB adapters?

I really don't have anything against Keyspan. I was just wondering if there were any alternatives out there, because the Keyspan is about $70.

That price brings up a good point. Why are they so damn expensive for something like that?

the Keyspan actually works. The others we have tried in the past (Compucable etc.) don't. I suspect most of the cost is for the drivers.

I have a prolific cable which came with OS 9 extension, but has no support for OS X, although it does work with VPC5.
Emails to their web site go unanswered and they do not have Mac drivers on their web pages so if you loose the CD you're stuck!
Not recomended.
Shame as it is really well made and very compact.

Yep, Belkin make some pretty good stuff for Mac. And it looks good too.
