I've been listening to the wonderful Rabih Abou-Khalil and his Nafas album. I've been listening to his (IMHO best) album Yara for the last 2 weeks, and I'm always impressed with his playing of the Oud and the masterful tunes and the spirituality that he conveyes.
From the burning remnants of At the Drive-In. Obtuse and ridden with science fiction to the point that its point is hidden behind its style, but performed with enough bombast and urgency to work nontheless.
Herbaliser, Take London
One of the few steps down Hip-Hop Lane I take anymore. The brassy qualities help me swallow this very British pill.
Moving further back:
Coheed and Cambria, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
The Raveonettes, Pretty in Black
Black Sabbath, Paranoid
Modest Mouse, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About
Comments
Some band called "Hammock" doing a song called "Where I Once Belonged".
I wouldn't be too offended if I never heard this song again
A living master of music. Brilliant.
The Mars Volta, Deloused in the Comatorium
