The dolphin surfaces?

The news brief in the following link mentions a new manufacturer for iBooks in 2002. Compal Electronics supposedly has received orders for a million units, but Alpha-Top will make even more. Compal's units will begin to ship during the first quarter. It smells a little fishy? or should I say sea mammally? to me. What are the chances that Compal is actually making the dolphin/iPad/iTablet/iWhateverthehell it is?

Goat entrails actually. Just trying to point out that Apple is expecting a lot of growth in iBook sales in 2002, or the order might just have something to do with the mysterious device we have been promised. It may not be a tablet. I don?t know. I?ve never been in line at the movies with Schiller?s teenage daughter and overheard, ?God, I hate Dad and his friggin? tablet.? I have never drugged or tortured an Adobe employee. I have never had an affair with Steve Jobs, Maya Lin or Joan Baez. Just mentioned the tablet, or whatever the hell it is, because of the other speculation in these forums.

It was. I was reading a gamecube mag earlier tonight and it said "From Dolphin to GameCube" or something like that about it's development...

It was also a rumored Apple codename.

You're right... 2 million iBook units in 2002 seems like an awful lot. I just read in the <a href="http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/358/business/Apple_loyalists_cheering_Microsoft+.shtml"; target="_blank">Boston Globe</a> that unit sales of all Apple machines was 3 million in 2001. Something different does seem afoot...

Although, if it is a new product, they must be anticipating that it'll be a phenomenal success, given market conditions and all.

I think these "extra" iBooks are the one's that Bill Gates will be buying for America's schools as part of the DOJ settlement.

    Beats old , refurbished PC's...
