Quicktime Question

I have Quicktime pro 7, this is like the 3rd or 4th time I have wondered about this option. It is installed along with QT. It asks if I want to find and install QT 3rd- party software. Does Apple recommend this?

    I'm not sure if they recommend it, but it sounds like a good idea to me.

    The reason I ask is, I assume Apple does not promote 3rd party software yet the option is added with the OS. Kind of confusing for me. But no biggie .Thanks for the reply.
