new iMac 700 vs dual 450 G4. Which would be faster?

Would the difference be easy to notice?

I know that the iMac has a Gefoce2mx and the dual I can have has a Rage 128 something, but I don't think it matter that much for 2d.

What do you think about the the speed difference?

Well you could compare the Qucksilver 733 with a dual 450...

in which case the quicksilver is generally faster. The dual seems a little quicker in Photoshop but hardly noticable. (OS9)

In OSX the 733 still seems quicker.

I think the iMac would be faster for most things.

Do you know any web site with benchmarks /comparisons between the 733 and the dual 450 or the iMac 700 and the dual 450?

I don't know exactly what programs you are interested in, but here are a few comparisons running various programs. Note that the iMac 700 is going to be probably 15% slower than the 733 in these tests due to a slower system bus and no L3 cache.

Of course, all of these programs except for Filemaker are multiple processor aware. I really think your decision should be made based more on your expansion needs than performance.
