Adding more RAM to G4

Does anyone know the actual ammount of ram a dual G4 500MHZ can handle? I know I read many places and it said 1.5GB. I currently have 4x512 and it runs fine (2GB total). What I wanted to know is does anyone know if it would work if I installed 4x1GB ram (4GB total)? The reason I ask this is I can get a good deal on some ram but don't want to get it if it won't work. I also purchased an upgrade card for the G4.

In short no.

Those G4's upto the current end of line windtunnels can only handle 2 gigs.

If you need more the G5's is the road to go

1.5GB in OS 9. 2GB in OS X.
