g3 ibook dead display

My g3 500mhz ibook screen died . . . if I look very carefully in the right lighting, I can see a faint image of bright objects on the screen . . . looking on the net, I think the inverter is dead. If this is the case, do you think it is worth the cost to fix or should I sell it off for parts. (by the way, I have no idea how much it will cost to fix if this is really the problem).

When using a vga adaptor and connecting to a projector I can view the display and have been able to burn cds to retrieve some data for the new ibook I've already purchased.

Thanks in advance!

for whatever reason, your backlight doesn't light. probably would cost more to fix than you could sell the repaired machine for, BUT, it might be worth it to YOU to have it working....

Since you are able to retrieve files, and already replaced it, I'd say just sell it "as-is" (maybe $100 USD ??) to someone who might be able to use the working parts...
