at least SJ kept his word....iMacs shipping in Jan...hell, i should have mine set up and running in January....guess i finally have to start using os X....weeeeeeee, moving from G3 400 MHz with 384 of ram and 13.8 viewable, non-movible CRT to a 800 MHz with 768 of ram and 15 inch viewable LCD that "floats on air" and a whole new OS...should be fun (will be downloading os x patches all weekend probably)...g
well, we will see how long it takes to get here...Fed ex picked it up this morning in TAOYUAN CITY TW (as in Taiwan) and it is heading to ANCHORAGE, AK today....then down to the states proper (hehe) and out to the boonies where i live...g

I ordered mine about midnight on 1/7 and the status on mine changed to SHIPPED a little over an hour ago.
ordered 1/7/02 a couple of hours after SJ stopped talking...tried to order even sooner, but the store was slow and funky from so many people trying to order or look at iMac....hope yours goes out with the first round or so....best of luck and enjoy YOUR iMac and stop coveting mine g

i wanted to order mine the minute the imac rose from the floor like the phoenix in SJ's keynote. but ppl kept telling me not to until i saw it in person. the local stores said they wouldnt be getting it for months, so i drove 300 miles to the apple store. anyway, i shouldnt have listened to them and waited so long. (i ordered a week ago.) i am still using a powerbook G3 233mhz with a weird line now developed on the display. its actually not that bad, just cant stand the 2-gig HD.
i didnt realize they shipped the new imacs from another country...LOL! silly me! i thought they came from california. they better not run my imac through some radiation device to kill anthrax that leaves my computer melted.

i haven't seen it in person myself (but soon), but i did get to see the leaked TimeCanada story the night before the keynote, so i was ready to buy one before SJ even started talking....my current iMac is great, but 10 gig hd is too small for all the iMovies my kids make...so it was either add a larger HD or get a second computer...i almost bought a iMac in december but checked here first and heard of possible new iMac...told myself that if it was lcd with G4, large HD and superdrive, i would buy one immediately....so when then the TimeCanada story showed me that the new iMac was everything i wanted and was freakin beautiful too...i wanted to buy 5....but settled for one...
and, yes Taq, it is one sexy looking machine
anybody is welcome to play with my iMac if they want to come over....i just won't be giving out my address other than to say it is in the middle of nowhere somewhere in New Mexico (that should narrow it down to about 1 million or two acres)..g

You're in the EXACT position I'm in, gelding! Going from a first-generation slot-loading iMac DV @ 400MHz and the same RAM amount as you, to exactly what you're getting (800MHz G4, 768MB RAM, larger screen, etc.)

I ordered MS Office when I ordered the iMac (800Mhz & superdirve) and got office within a few days, but my order status continues to show, partially shipped. I WANT MY MAC!
well, it seems Taiwan is in a VERY different time zone than here....apple listed it as shipped at 5:30 am here in neew mexico time....fed ex picked it up at 5:00 ish pm Taiwan time....doubt it is flying to alaska till the morning...g
probably see on thursday...should be all set up and files transfered from old iMac to new iMac by the weekend....hell i'm sure i'll do it all the night i get it....why sleep when you have a new toy to play with...g
ok gelding, you want my confession? ive seen it and its BIG. the imac base looks smaller in the pictures. and--i tried lifting it--and it was really heavy (but thats just a little girl talking). yeah the store was pretty cool, at least all the machines were in working order (unlike in the the local CompUSA store). but everyone was *flocking* around the two imac g4s they had set up. actually, i liked the imac g4's display a lot better than the regular stand-alone flat panel ones. i cant explain why...
i missed the leaked story the night before the keynote, but i knew for sure that it was going to be a flat panel (should i be admitting this in public?) just like i knew there were no G5s coming to MWSF.
please do tell us when you get your baby!
p.s. NM is cool! i was just in artesia this summer and took a tour of the whole bottom half of the state. alas, no apple stores around there i imagine.
