Uhm,

I you tell them you have four dead pixels, and they only find one, they're going to send you your iMac back and charge you 50$ for handling.

This is a farse little iMovie just waiting to happen...

Dead pixels become an issue with a lot of people, and we'll see this for sure. LOL

And Macintosh, grow up a little man. You really think Apple is going to get your iMac in, say "Oh, this is that guy's iMac with the 6 dead pixels... get me a screwdriver so I can replace this thing."

I have a feeling they just might actually look at it first. What do you think?

GK is right. You'll get a nice $50 (or more) bill for being a genius.

(don't mean to sound so abrupt - but you are not guaranteed a perfect LCD - from ANY manufacturer)

I bet I could get it replaced because I have Applecare, this normally wouldnt mean anything except I have this brother who works for Apple.

1.) AppleCare does shit execpt save you a phone bill

2.) You're an idiot for buying 3 year apple care. it's a ripoff

3.) your brother means shit. why not use his 20percent off employee discount if you had a brother who worked for apple?

1.) Applecare salvaged my G4 Cube.

2.) I got a discount on applecare for buying throught he education store.

3.) My brother is an Apple rep therefore he doesnt get a 20% discount except for a one time only deal in which he got a Dual 800 and a 17 ASD.

He gets special deals once in a while too. He got the iPod for $200 and an iBook 500 Dual USB Combo drive for only $00.00, otherwise known as free.

I usually don't bother because I don't keep my machines around that long... but is it really THAT bad of a deal? It's not like it's so absurd to think something might happen to the machine in it's third year, is it?

considering it doesn' cover much and you are most likely to have a problem with a computer in the first few weeks or months rather than 2nd or 3rd year I don't think it makes sense. it certainly doesn't make sense for the price of the applecare. perhaps if it were a bit cheaper

Macintosh, what happened to your cube?

It's pretty expensive for what it covers. The CompUSA warantee is much better and you can also get it no matter where you buy the computer from.

I doubt I would have got the 3 year deal but the special offer was too good to pass up.

3 years of coverage for only $142!

The ube power button wnet bad and the USB bus or something. The sound and mouse would just randomly cut off, once in a while after those things happened the machine itself shut down.

    Its all better now!

is that right? the edu prices are that low now? if that's the case then it is a good idea. I was reffering to the retail prices which are ridiculous

And the inexplicable hassle of getting warranty repair when you're out of the 90-day phone support period.

I've never bought AppleCare, but I've seriously considered it on a couple occasions. (High-ticket items looking like they might break soon.) I will say that those Titaniums are awful delicate, particularly the first-generation ones. My current modus operandi is just to use a warranty-doubling (and cash back!) credit card.

I would tend to agree...unless he works in Customer Relations. Even then, there are procedures to go through, and I think it'd be a MAJOR favor to ask him to bend those.

And that's all I feel like saying today.

    Oop, I lied.

I've had lots of LCDs and lots of dead pixels. Even if I could send them back to get fixed, it wouldn't be worth the hassle. I don't see them unless I look for them. It's not a big deal. Get over it. Etc.

    Alex

P.S.: Sorry for the late response. I'm pretty dumb.

I've also thought about it for my TiBook but its too much $$$

the Amex Blue Card gives me better options and "warranty" than Applecare does.

Since then I've had a PowerBook G3 333 (Lombard), PowerBook G3 400 (Pismo), and now a PowerBook G3 500: none of which have had a single dead pixel (although the 400 developed a stuck pixel which was massaged away).

Ha, i have a Rad-5 LCD and not a bad pixel in the bunch! How the heck can you guys spend all that money on Apple Powerbooks and put up with bad displays?? After all your the guys that keep coming back to Apple spending all of your hard earned money over and over again! You guys are part of the installed base that keeps Apple in business!! Without you guys apple wouldn't be able to retain their 2.9% market share! The least apple could do is produce equipment that is free of defects!!!! The nerve of them!!!

Why don't you bring it back to apple and get a new one! Whats wrong with you? You paid a ridiculous amount anyway!! Do you feel like a sucker? You should!!!

2 pixels out of 1,638,400 isn't exactly bad and Apple IS a little more open to replacement with the cinema displays but not with just 2. it's likely not even noticeable
