Strange observation

Yesterday I went into my dad's work and downloaded some stuff on the beige G3 tower in there. Now we have the exact computer at home, 300 MHz with Zip and same amount of RAM. I looked in Apple System Profiler found it was a 266 MHz G3 with 2 MB L2 Cache ~! My beige has 1 MB L2 and I didn't think this could be possible. Weird!

Also the machine seemed twice as fast as mine, only adding to the evidence that we got a lemon.

That's confusing me too. How is it exactly the same?

He probably thinks they're the same because they look the same.

    Different models.

Could be, but I think he knows better.

What he's saying is that he has pretty much the exact same system but slightly different clock speed. 33MHz can't make that much of a difference anyway.

Tiger, have you tried a completely clean install and reformatting of your hard drive? Some crappy extensions, bad blocks, or something might be holding it back. After time things may happen. Try swapping the HD with the work machine.

Yeah, actually I've done that before and it hasn't solved anything.

I was also pointing out that I saw 2 MB L2 Cache, but maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me during the time, because I know no machine has a 2 MB L2 Cache.
