Euro people: Buy iPods in Germany
I was reading Macbidouille.fr and because of an artist tax in France, the Nano 2GB costs 239euros(!!!) taxes included (thats about 298usd) and the 4GB costs 319euros TTC or 396usd!!!!
Anyway, the Nano costs 199 and 249 respectively at the German Apple store... supposedly the cheapest around in Euro zone.
PS A positive aspect of the Artist tax is that it has laid the foundation for justifying downloading any music you want from the net. If you pay the taxes, then you have essentially paid for music anyway.
I know a few cases in France where it was presented in this way and they guilty parties got away with it... given they dont give to anyone else not sell what they download.
Yeay

25,71euros (2GB) & 51,44euros (4GB)
But... for the iPod 20GB it's 17,94 and for the 60GB it's 23,92.
That makes no sense at all.
Supposedly its 4 euros per 100MB of capacity...
So... a 60GB should have something like 750euros of taxes on it (thats like almost 1000usd of taxes).
Fvck it... I'm getting it from the US anyway..
Only kidding, If you think you have it bad the UK has to pay 17.5% V.A.T on everything, But saying that the nano works out at ?38 cheaper than france

This is an additional tax.
So you have the 19,6 tax, and the Tax Zo mentionned. There is also a tax on every DVD or CDR. This tax fund the audio industry, and is supposed to compensate the piracy. As the result many people think, that if they paid they have the right to make pirate copy. I can't blame this people entirely, even if I do not do it myself.

Ouch!! In this day and age when most of europe is under one currency i think it's bollocks to still have individual taxes on consumer goods
