If Apple had taken orders for 150,000 iMacs in the first Three weeks I wonder how many they have sold now. From what I can see the waiting times are increasing. Apple is not catching up with demand at this stage.
Considering their contract is for 100,000 iMacs per month, I can't see the waiting line getting any shorter for a while. At least not until they catch up with the orders placed already (which will still be the middle to late part of March).
Production will grow in the next month. They sold 6.000.000 first generation iMacs in less then 4 years, that are more then 125.000 per month.
Assuming that they will sell more second generation iMacs, they'll have to increase production up to 200.000/month 'til summer and catch up orders end of the year.
To see it another way, its a luxury class product, how long will you wait for a Porsche?
